Stocks were strong all day on hopes for a deal to avoid the so-called fiscal cliff. President Obama met with top Republican John Boehner today. Boehner is reportedly willing to accept tax hikes on the very wealthy in a compromise to reach a deal, but the two sides still have major differences. Looking at closing a numbers for the session, the Dow was up 3/4%, the S&P was up 1.2% and the Nasdaq was up 1.3%.
